Here's something different: Editors

Hello,

Since my last couple of blogs have been about writing and publishing, I decided to go in a different direction this time. Sure I'm excited and frustrated at the same time by learning the ropes but, sometimes you gotta take a break. I'm going to do just that. Today I'm going to just say a few things about editing and my editor.

So basically an editor is the person who makes sure your story makes sense with fresh eyes after you've been staring at it so long the mistakes start to blur. They are incredible superheroes of the writing world and they are usually invisible in comparison to the authors unfortunately. Good editors are hard to come by, and I don't just mean ones that can mold your work into a true masterpiece but someone that you can get along with.

I can honestly say that my editor (Spoiler-Name drop) Stewart Spokes has been an amazing part of the publishing process for me personally. Not only that but, I don't think I've ever had so much fun editing because he makes it feel like it's not really work. I've enjoyed seeing what he's been able to do with what I handed him. I can't wait to see what he does with future works with any authors.

It's a partnership to be sure but, a lot of what we call amazing works had to pass through an editor's hands at some point and they spent time on it. I'm sure for every time authors have slammed their head on the desk, stared at the wall because they didn't want to work, and sleepless night for cranking out work authors have, editors can match it. So to the unsung hero, thanks you mean a lot. To the authors out there, name your editors in the final work because they deserve to be recognized for their hard work too.

Like I said, something different. :)
